Shouldn't there be more of us trying to be in the 'haves' instead of the 'have-nots' in this world
In the year 2007, there were an estimated 3.3 million Americans classified as millionaires. The population in the United States at this time was an estimated 300 million+.
In contrast to this, an estimated 37 million Americans were living below the official poverty line. So what is going WRONG in this country and throughout the world.
As a career social worker, I can argue the idea of needing strong parenting, less absentee father's, and a positive environment to be raised in. One in which there are mentor's, hard workers, and people who actually care about things such as "adopt a highway" and "neighborhood watch".
But this is America, and this is the reality..................... So what can we do??????????????
I say this, reach for the stars. If your kid (hell, anyone's kid you know of) says he/she wants to be a lawyer, take them to the library and research information on it. If they want to fix cars, encourage them to go work at some random jiffy lube or oil connection and sweep the floors if they have to just to be where the action is.
If they want to be the next Michael Jordan, buy them a basketball, drive them to the basketball park, enroll them at the Boys and Girls Club or YMCA, and inspire them to give it all they have.
Children in this country need to be encouraged, not ignored. Shoot!, adults in this country need to be encouraged, not ignored, by their family and friends.
You know what I think keeps the rich on top, and the old saying of "old money" which keeps generations of children of a certain background wealthy, its the stability and motivation by these select families to have their children strive for the best and preserve the family name and what it stands for.
Now of course everyone says that same old crap, "more money, more problem"......Yeah, whatever..... How about we try and see this out for ourselves by putting ourselves in the position to accumulate money and wealth first. We can then judge based on our own outcomes................................... You only live once people.................
