How come the University of Hawaii is not dominating all of college athletics?

Okay, I've been thinking about this one for as long as I can remember.  Why is it there are not more blue chip/top athletes  taking the free scholarship to go to this school?  Do they know where The University of Hawaii is?  Its in Hawaii !!!
I have inquired about this over the years with friends, and have heard some different reasons.  My boy ABOMB breaks it down this way:  When you are at a certain level, and you are thinking of playing professionally, then its all about national exposure, i.e.  airings of games on Television (wacked out time zone out there in Hawaii); availability of scouts to see you, etc.  That makes sense.
There is also the other train of thought here which can not be overlooked................A$$............as in......female a$$....... It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why top athletes are flocking to the University of Miami (South Beach.....Nuff Said), Florida and Florida St. (Two schools stuck in the middle of knowhere....and full of hot Florida a$$) and don't forget Texas, Kentucky and Ohio St (Southern Belles and hot Midwestern a$$).  So that makes sense to me too.
But still, how bad can the action be in Hawaii?  I can't get over it.  So lets get more into it location wise.  If i am a good enough athlete to be getting offers from pretty much every school thats noteworthy, why would I prefer Memphis over Hawaii......What the hell is there to experience in freakin Memphis.
And for you fellow Californians out there, let's talk about the mighty USC....... You know what, If I had a choice between spending four years dodging bullets and remembering to wear the appropriate colors on a daily basis over there at USC, or excepting a full ride to Pepperdine, where I would have an ocean view and live in Malibu, where do you think I'm goin?
Oh, and by the way, I'm not going to mention anything about actually academics and career benefits that come with an education at certain schools, because I'm talking about 'student' athletes here, not regular students.  I know, I know, there are a lot of athletes in America who will produce great things off the field/court/and rink, but I'm trying to be real here.  Most top athletes will never see an actual college degree, and the one's playing basketball are now joining the baseball, hockey, tennis and golf stars in not even bothering to waist any time on a campus to begin with.
Anyway, its just my thoughts................................Am I crazy?
