My poor heart just can't take any more following of my favorite sports teams.

So I spent another day watching my childhood favorite New York Giants lay an egg at home against the damn Cardinals, and I started thinking to myself.........Self, why do you care so much that they lost?......(Yeah, I talk to myself often).........Self, why did you just spend the last 3+ hours of your life watching this game when you could have been doing.............well.........something else..........anything.........something more productive with your time.
I feel that I have actually improved tremendously in this area.  As a kid, forget it........Every game in every sport meant everything.  And when I moved form New York to Florida, I kept my same favorite teams (especially since south Florida is like 90 percent transplanted New Yorkers anyway).............Oh yeah, and i like the Celtics because they had Larry Bird.......who is probably the last great white basketball player we will ever see......And also of note........why is it that knowone in our country cares about our soccer team.....its only the biggest sport on the entire planet........But of course, we Americans prefer the sports that our people seem to be better at.
Anyway, after the game, I started thinking about what else I should have been doing with myself during that span of time.  At the very least, I could have been watching the game at some sports bar with friends, drinking, and arguing with each other to make it more interesting.  Instead, I found myself sitting on my couch alone, with my Eli Manning Jersey on, watching a bunch of grown men run around and hit each other for entertainment.
I need to be more like my friend Corey, who gave up on sports in the 90s.  Maybe its my turn to do so the same.  Its time for a new hobby..............See you at the poker tables..................
