Ever wonder why you used to be entertained by certain things when you were younger?

Don't ask me why, but last night I found myself watching an episode of 21 Jump Street at a friends house. Within the first 30 seconds of the episode, I began to think about something....... Why did I once find this show entertaining......At least, I think I found this show interesting. I think I blocked out this part of my life because I don't recall ever watching this particular episode, but I know I used to watch this damn show as a kid. Anyway, I started to further analyze the idea of things that we have watched, done, and were overly amused by as kids, and years later wondered what the hell we were thinking.
Although, looking back on it, another thing I learned on this night is that, when it comes to entertainment, things haven't really changed at all. The times have changed, the hair styles and clothes have changed and technology has changed for the creation of shows, but the corny a$$ dialogues and so called thought-provoking story lines really haven't changed at all. This got me kind of worried, because I'm starting to feel like we never really learn from our mistakes, and history really does seem to repeat itself over and over again.
Our society as a whole has not seemed to learn its lessons, which has led to 21st century problems that occurred in the 20th century, and so on and so on back in time. Although, wait a minute, I take it back, I think we have made some changes. For example, in this wonderful episode I had the pleasure of spending about 48 minutes of life watching, I noticed that our wonderful young cops (who looked 30 anyway) were posing as students and always fighting with the other students. Although, instead of the school security breaking up the fight and sending everyone back to class, we now have actual police officers stationed at school to arrest kids, throw them on the ground, and mace them when they get into fights............hmmmmmmmmm......that really doesn't sound like progress now that I think about it.........
Oh well, point is, things change, and at the same time, things always seem to stay the same. But honestly, what the f*ck was I thinking? I don't care if I was 10 years old a the time. I should be ashamed of myself. But really, what am I saying, today there are millions of kids out there watching blues clues, Barney, Dora the explorer, and spongebob squarepants. Wow, we are all going downhill. God forbid we teach our kids to read a f*cking book, draw, or go for a walk in the park for exercise. Nope, not with computers, High definition TV, and plenty of fast food places to make your parents quickly grab something on the way home and serve it to you while you sit on your bed getting bigger and bigger.
