When does the Winter Olympics start? Oh wait... I think its already going on.

Ok, so I have a faint memory of what I think was the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics (not really sure, because it looked really odd on TV, and I was at a lesbian club that night, so my mind and eyes were focused on other things)
Outside of that, my only other time watching it on TV was seeing "curling" for about 10 minutes before going to bed one night.  And that was only because my woman did not believe me when I told her the commercial she saw about curling was a real sport and was in the Olympics.
Has anyone watched this stuff?  I heard about some chick who hurt her leg or something.  I also heard about some poor guy in some other country who actually died practicing, some kid who looks like Carrot Top did something great, and some drunk party goer kid I heard grew up and won a couple medals in skiing for the Americans.
I kind of wonder what kind of motivation anyone one of us in America has anymore when it comes to participating in and watching any kind of Olympics events these days.  We seem to always be seen throughout the world as the most cocky and selfish country there is.  We also seem to have 3 times the number of competitors of any other country in the world in every event in every Olympics, and outside of a swimmer getting caught smoking some dope, I can't think of any athlete in this decade who has made a career outside of one of these events on TV or any commercial deals, etc..
Oh well, what do I know.  God bless these young men and women for all their hard work and training, and i hope they all do well.  At least they have a very specific goal, reward and incentive to chase after and pursue.  Most of us still have no idea what we are doing, why we are doing it, and who we are doing it for.  God Bless America.
