So I watched the Roy Jones Jr/Bernard Hopkins fight......and I want that time of my life back!

So who else watched this disgrace on TV Saturday night?  Remember when these guys were top notch fighters?  Remember when they punched people?  To me, this basically sums up the state of boxing for me as a whole...old...boring...behind the times.....Perfect time for another season of Ultimate Fighter on TV.
I think its said in all sports when some over-the-hill athlete gives it a go for "one more round".  Some do it for the money. Others do it to stay in the spotlight, and others just do it out of pride and to prove that they can still accomplish big things.
But you know what?  We can't really blame these guys for going out there tonight and putting on their version of a show for entertainment, because they wouldn't have bothered with this nonsense if they didn't think that a bunch of dopes would purchase this crap on Pay Per View.
As usual, its always about the people, our society,  and our culture.  we just love seeing Rocky out there one more time.  Like Al Bundy running down the field in his old ass t-shirt with the football.  And its why Barry Bonds at like 50 years old would still be trying to play right now if it wasn't for every owner out there finally saying enough is enough already.
Again, to me, its just another sign that boxing is just about over as a legit, top notch, entertaining sport for millions to tune in and see.  Let's face it, its all about MMA baby.  Its all about the "new age" shit.  We are in the "X-Games" millennium now, and there doesn't seem to be any room for the 'sweet science' anymore, because its not enough to quench our thirst.  We want blood.  We want fancy outfits, bold attitudes, over-acting, and loud voices entertaining us.  And it seems to be getting worse for boxing now that MMA owners (mostly Dana White) are getting network deals and showing more and more fights on free TV.
Because, really, have you ever paid to see a big Baseball game, football game, hockey or basketball...........God no........People aren't even paying for music or movies anymore.  You can download that shit for free on the internet.
Now, more then ever, its time for boxing to make a change.  Nobody cares about grown ass men in their 40's talking trash to each other during weigh-ins and then tapping each other in the back of the head and in their crotches to try and win.
At least boxing tried.  They even brought in Mr. Rocky Balboa himself to try and create a reality show about finding boxers.  And I actually watched it.  But again, we are talking about the same old sport.  Dance around......punch once in a while.....hold......hold.......dance around.......punch.......bell rings.......
They better hurry up and get that Mayweather/ Pacquiao fight to happen before there is knowone left to care.
