Life is only fun if you make it that way.
And so starts the the beginning of another week of work for many of us. What did you do this weekend? Did you have fun? I spent practically my entire weekend in a casino staring at poker chips. After all the hours spent (and all the money lost) there was one thing that stood out to me. It was something said to me and everyone else at the poker table by an attractive woman who was also playing (and sipping on some wine). She commented that we were all boring her to death and she sarcastically stated that she might as well get up and leave unless things get more interesting.
Now, first of all, I think its time for some honesty here. Poker is poker, and even if you have plenty of money to waist, nobody wants to lose all the time, and so many prefer to focus on the cards and not the dealer or the other players. But of course, there is one more fact in play here. If this woman were, shall we say, a "heavyweight contender" (if you know what I mean) then every guy at the table would have just ignored the 'bitch' and kept focusing on the cards. But this is a horny world that we live in, and so for the next hour or so everyone at the table started making a few random jokes, telling stories, and chatting it up with the hot chick, each other, and the dealer just to make conversation.
Eventually, money kept exchanging hands through these wonderful chips and the guys starting focusing back on the cards and things got silent again. And the woman left shortly after (with everyone at the table staring at her ass while she walked away, including the dealer). Ohhhh, by the way, I had no interest in the woman (this acknowledgment is for my wonderful, amazing, and much more beautiful fiance.............love you Kim.
Anyway, for me, it wasn't about the woman (I swear). It was about what she had to say. And its something I hear from my lovely lady every time I head to this dingy casino in the first place. Each and every time I go, she says one thing, "don't go if your gonna bitch about losing, just go to have fun and enjoy yourself". Now, I prefer to focus on the part about enjoying yourself if thats ok with everyone.
Think about it, unless you are a degenerate gambler who is risking the mortgage at the blackjack table, the whole point should be about entertainment. Its why we spend so much money on movies, video games, food, liquor and "Dodger Dogs" while watching baseball in Los Angeles.
For someone who has lived his life with a personality that is sarcastic and humorous in nature (If you met my family, you would know where I got it from), I somehow always forget the entire reason why I am at certain places sometimes. Its about having fun. Its about enjoying yourself and not taking life so god damn seriously all the time. Life is too short for that. Laugh it up a little, will ya ! Laugh at life. Walk around with a fuckin smile on your face a little more often and maybe this world will look a little brighter or something. Ahhhhhhh, what do I know....................
