How often do you feel disrespected in your daily life?

The Godfather    Ever truly think about how others perceive you in your every day life?  Usually, thoughts like this would lead to some self help guru telling you to focus on yourself and not worry about others, but its still a legitimate question, especially if it involved your workplace, school, and overall professional life.
The Godfather    Do you ever feel like Fredo from the movie "The Godfather" ?  Do you ever feel 'passed over', less thought of or generally just not fully understood?  Well I can honestly say that I have.  And, honestly, I can put much of the blame on myself.  I'm willing to partially blame myself because I'm old enough to understand what it is that I am showing others with my actions, just as much as is what others are showing me with their words and actions.
I'll never forget the observation that my old high school friend Natasha made years ago at a drive through Mcdonalds.  We were ordering some food, stared into that silly voice box machine, and listened to what sounded like a very distraught, frustrated and sad voice on the other end confirming what we wanted.  Then, as we pulled up to the next window, we got a good look at the young lady, got the 'screw off' looking sarcastic attitude, and then started to drive off.  Just then, my girl Natasha said all that needed to be said.  She simply looked over at me in the car and stated, "What was her problem, I didn't ask her to work at Mcdonalds"  And just like that, it hit me, and I've been thinking about that statement for more then 15 years now.
It makes all the sense in the world to me.  For everyone out there working dead end jobs, dating deadbeat, cheap and abusive men (and women) and fighting with your parents for not giving you more financial support, I ask you the same thing, "Who asked you to stay at that job, stay with that man/woman, or depend on your parents long into your adult life.?"
I will never say that anyone deserves the problems that they find themselves in, because I have been there, done that, and don't want to be a hypocrite.  But, as is life, we learn.  We learn every day, at any age, and there is always room to grow and mature.
Don't ever stop believing in yourself, your abilities, and what you can be in life..................And stop bitchin about things you have some control over !!!
What do ya think a that?
