School shootings everwhere today in California...WTF !
As usual, I spent my work day driving all over Los Angeles County, and I don't recall hearing the rapper Coolio. Nor do I remember meeting (would love to have met) Michelle Pfeiffer, but I didn't realize I was driving all over Gangsta's Paradise today, straight from the movie 'Dangerous Minds' after coming home to 24hour, no commercial break, news about shootings in two different areas today. Haven't we learned anything from Columbine High School in the 90s?
It took over 3000 American's to die before we upgraded security in our airports. What is it going to take to ensure the safety of our children in a school setting/system which already ranks among the worst in the world. And I wonder why? Maybe its because the teachers are overworked and underpaid, they pile in 30-40 students per classroom, and the students are either abusing and molesting each other, or being molested by school staff. Shouldn't we be doing something about this?
I think my "word of the day" is PROACTIVE. As in, we should actually try and be PROACTIVE in protecting our children, teaching our children, and caring for our children, rather then just reactive (you can make a case for over react after keeping all kids in school buildings till almost 6pm after the fact to act like we all care about their safety now)
God bless the officer for doing his job (and actually paying attention to what's going on around here)
