The road to comedy can be a dark and loney road to take

We line up in groups. All with the same dream, the same passion, the same motivation.  We run into each other often, same people, different locations, same concept......one man, one mic.  We all my end up together at one place, but we are all alone.  So goes the world of stand-up comedy.
Sure, some make friends.  Some make polite conversation.  But, in the end, the focus always remains on the stage.  That is my perception of the art of comedy.
It's not often that you find yourself in a "profession" where you actually have to pay to be a part of it.  In the beginning, there are always the close friends who want nothing else but for you to succeed, so they make there way to the clubs, watch you perform, and support you all night.  But, of course, the well will soon run dry.  Then its up to you, the comic, to find "strangers" for support.  And this social skill is actually where the loneliness begin
Sometimes, I feel like it would be easier to find a date then to find someone willing to pay to watch a person perform standup.
As is the world of "industry" people, for every 1 person you see on TV, there seem to be at least about 1000 individuals roaming around the country daily looking for the same chance, opportunity and achievement.
Its not for everyone, but its also worth the effort.  Consider it something to check off on your bucket list.  Life remains but a stage, and I continue to recommend that you never just remain in the background.
