This past week at work I messed around and got a triple-double.
Its not just NBA players who can achieve this kind of success 'on the job'. I was recently able to obtain 10 headaches, 10 stomach aches, and paid about $10 after taxes. So goes another week of doing what I feel I have to do, rather then what I want to do.Does this picture above show a man who is enjoying what he does 33% of his day, every day, Monday through Friday?
One of my only salvations during the week is listening to The Howard Stern Show on Sirius XM radio throughout my time driving all around the city for work. And over the past couple of months on the show, there was one employee in particular who apparently made a decision to quit his job, in order to spend the next 2 years of his life traveling around the country, and certain parts of the world, on a bicycle.
Now, don't get me wrong, my goal in life is not to get nut cancer by sitting on a bicycle seat for the next two years. But you see where I am getting at, right? There are people out there making life fulfilling decisions every day, and they prepare, sacrifice and proceed fully with their accomplishing their dreams. Especially before they get too old, and have to 'settle down' so to speak.
Well, even thought i'm older then the guy from the show, i'm not that old. And i'm certainly not dead yet. So maybe its time I make such a prepared and organized sacrifice to fulfill my own dreams.
Every weekend I think about what it is i am truly meant to be doing with my life. Then, every Monday, i go right back to what i 'have to" do in order to survive. But, would my life really collapse if i didn't have what i currently have due to my current employment? (Hell, its not like I'm living in Beverly Hills, and complaining about the costs to get my BMW serviced at the shop)
Some things are worth fighting for.....especially my own god damn life and happiness.
